About Me
I'm an artist based in the historic Boyne Valley of County Louth and County Meath, Ireland. I grew up surrounded by nature and pre-historic monuments, which are my inspiration. Walking over ancient pathways, I observe the passage of wildlife through the countryside, the ever changing weather and turning of the seasons. Moments, colours and textures which I attempt to capture in my art.
I graduated with an honours degree in Craft Design from the National College of Art and Design in 2007. My art is created on paper, usually on Hot Pressed (HP) watercolour paper, with watercolour paints and stippling using fine liner ink pens. Stippling creates an image by using small dots, the smallest pen size I use is 0.03mm, so even a tiny section of a work can take hours to produce.
All materials used are artist quality and archival, however, it is always recommended not to display watercolour art in strong or direct sunlight or high humidity, to ensure maximum longevity.
Due to the time consuming nature of my process, and balancing creating my artworks with a full-time job, I prefer to donate works I’ve created to art auctions in aid of charitable organisations. Since 2020 I have participated in the Incognito online art sale in aid of the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation.
